If you were a well-liked teacher at a local college and a crowd of locals marched to your home to celebrate your success and let the neighbors know what a good teacher you are, would you be upset?
Probably not. It would be an honor to receive such attention, and broadcast your success to the neighbors. But if you were a sleaze who dealt in hard drugs and managed dog fights, you'd probably not welcome people coming to stand outside your house with big signs sporting your name and showing pictures off torn up dogs and druggies lying in the gutter—thanks to your business.
Is Picketing Abortionists' Homes "Mean-Spirited"?
But this appearance at your door just might encourage you to find a better job. Thus it is with pro-lifers going into a neighborhood where an abortion worker lives to let the people know they're in the sordid business of killing little children in the local abortion mill.
These people are there also with a purpose and a mission—a mission to save lives.
Over the years we have seen people change their employment due just to the announcement that we would be paying them a visit. They do not want the neighbors to know what they do for a living. This is a powerful tool and one we use too infrequently.
Yet, even though we are certain of our cause and well aware of the fact that we are fighting a war for the very life of our country, for the return of the wholesome traditions that served us in the past, and for the salvation of the immortal souls of the abortionists, we still run into the timid pro-lifer who calls these neighborhood protests "mean spirited," and they warn us that if we should do something so "uncharitable," they will no longer be able to work with us.
Yet in 1998, when Congressman Henry Hyde was on the stand during our trial he said, over the prolonged objections of the pro-abortion attorney, that if there had been people in Germany who protested outside the extermination camps, there might have been fewer Jews killed than there were.
Henry was praising the activist pro-life tactics that have saved lives of little children from death inside the abortion mills, and his argument was from the heart, because saving lives is the bottom line.
Our children are being killed by our neighbors who work inside these mills, and we must do all we can to stop the killing. But if we have to be so proper and polite that we allow these murderers to hide comfortably in their homes with the security of knowing the neighbors will never discover what they do for a living, we are little more than wimps, and we just don't get the picture.
If it is mean-spirited to urge an abortion clinic worker to quit the grisly business of killing, while working his way into hell, then perhaps what we need to be is just a little MORE mean-spirited.
But if we understand the magnitude of the battle raging in our society, we will look for every legal way we can to stop the killing.
St. Michael the Archangel, Defend Us in Battle
At the entrance to our office we have a beautiful statue of St. Michael the Archangel holding a flaming sword and casting Satan, in the form of a huge snake, into hell. St. Michael is not standing there looking cautious and shy. He means business.
And when we say the prayer to St. Michael to call on him for help, we don't ask him to make us polite and likable, but we ask him to defend us in battle and to cast into hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Yet with this prayer still ringing in our ears, we are told that all of our attempts to dissuade people from killing babies have to be done without hurting anyone's feelings, or stepping on anyone's toes. Have these good people ever heard of tough love?
That's what we call the picketing of a home where abortionists are hiding.
